Expand Work & Career Options

There are some strong and thriving relationships with various employers across the region.  There are also some solid programs to prepare people in recovery to establish or re-establish their lives in the workforce. However, these employers are still in the minority, and the availability and strength of the programs are not consistent across the region.  Representatives of the Workforce Development Board, which oversees PA CareerLink, in at least one county in this region have demonstrated efforts and expressed willingness to work together.  Their work has included training and services to develop more recovery-friendly environments.  Leveraging this willingness, and hopefully expanding it, may provide opportunities for more effective job-readiness programs. In addition, identifying and working with recovery-friendly employers and their successes will provide a foundation for expansion.

Goal Identified

During the coming year, The Recovery Hub Team will build upon existing career-development opportunities in the region to increase and improve job opportunities for, and job readiness in, the recovery community.
